      Cold weather in Kent

Since before Christmas we have experienced some cold snaps of weather which have lead to a number of motor accidents and damage to property. The predicted heavy snow fall is due over the next few days for the east of the county so drivers needs to be much more careful when driving in snow and icy conditions as braking distance and visability is much reduced.

Property also needs to be protected as freezing pipes can cause bursts. It is recommended that empty properties have water supplies drained and switched off at the mains or if the property is in use the heating system should be set to provide a level of heat to stop freezing.

it is important that you check the heating system as frost protection settings can still allow pipes to freeze. Regular visits to the property are also recommended.
